Hi Global Recap readers,
When I first came across photos of these Chinese “Special Interest Aliens” wearing camo, I thought it was AI-generated.
But it was posted by Texas Department of Public Safety Lieutenant…
More on that after our usual Iran update. 👇🏼
👀 This Week So Far
Quick Catch-Up
🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran-US: The US hits 2 IRGC boats and a missile site near Bandar Abbas after reported mine-laying in Hormuz, while Iran reportedly pushes for $12 billion upfront in a still-unsigned nuclear-and-shipping deal.
🇷🇺🇺🇦 Russia-Ukraine: Russia fires a nuclear-capable Oreshnik during a 600-drone, 90-missile barrage near Kyiv, then tells foreigners and diplomats to leave before more strikes on "decision-making centers."
🌐 NATO: The US reportedly tells NATO allies it may cut crisis force pledges by halving strategic bomber commitments, cutting fighter jets by about a third, and removing submarines from the force pool.

🇮🇷🇺🇸 IRAN & US
This is “Ceasefire”

The US struck Bandar Abbas again, Iran’s key port city on the Strait of Hormuz.
Kuwait said it came under a missile and drone attack but didn’t name who launched it. Reading further, though, the likely culprit becomes pretty obvious.
Claims:
US: US officials said American forces shot down 4 Iranian one-way attack drones around Hormuz, then hit a Bandar Abbas ground-control station that was about to launch a 5th.
Iran: Iran's Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) said it retaliated against an unspecified “US air base” that launched the Bandar Abbas assault.
The Claimed Deal

That strike hit just as Iran was floating a draft-deal story, with Iranian state TV claiming a tentative US-Iran framework could restore Hormuz shipping to prewar levels within a month.
But there are conditions to Iran's version:
The US would lift its naval blockade on Iranian ports.
The US would pull forces back from near Iran.
Iran and Oman would manage Strait of Hormuz traffic, while US military ships would not be covered.
No deal would be final until about $12 billion, half of Iran's $24 billion demand, was transferred after an MOU announcement.
To this claim, the White House called the Iranian state-media MOU a "complete fabrication." This is notable because the reported Iranian version barely touches the nuclear issue Trump says started the war.
Oman Gets Dragged In

Trump then turned the alleged Hormuz-management idea into a threat against Oman, saying the strait would be open to everyone and nobody would control it.
The pressure widened fast:
Trump said Oman would "behave" or the US would "blow them up."
He also said he might reject an Iran deal unless Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait join the Abraham Accords.
He even threatened more strikes if Iran does not meet US demands, including on enriched uranium, sanctions, and frozen assets.

🎙️ PODCAST
More History,
More Knowledge.
Thank you for showing such interest in our new podcast. It really helps, especially after the last one got hit by Russian bots…
That said, I know our new podcast is mainly focused around Iran and oil, but if there are any other nuanced topics you’d like us to cover, please let us know.
Just like Global Recap, I want to shape it around your feedback.

🇨🇳🇺🇸 CHINA & US
Camo Border Arrests
Texas DPS Lieutenant and official spokesman Chris Olivarez said Border Patrol caught 12 migrants on a private ranch in Maverick County on May 26, including 6 Chinese nationals classified as "Special Interest Aliens."
All 6 were wearing camouflage.
What We Know:
The Chinese group was the second ranch arrest that night. An earlier K-9-assisted apprehension involved 7 migrants from Mexico, Guatemala, India, Ecuador, and Cuba.
Olivarez said the Chinese nationals were referred to Border Patrol after being found on the ranch in camouflage.
US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has used the "Special Interest Alien" label for non-US people whose travel patterns may trigger extra national-security screening.
The camo detail is the reason this one stands out, but "state-agent theory" is still not proved.

🇨🇳🇰🇷 CHINA & SOUTH KOREA
Boat Escape Detention

Dong Guangping
Speaking of China, Chinese dissident Dong Guangping, a 68-year-old former police officer turned activist, is in South Korean custody after fleeing China by inflatable rubber boat and being picked up off Taean county on Monday night.
📌 Context. Dong was fired from the police after signing a Tiananmen-related petition, then became known for commemorating the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre and criticizing CCP censorship and repression.
What We Know:
South Korea's coast guard said a Chinese man was found in a 3.3-meter boat (10.8 feet) with a 9.9-horsepower engine and is being investigated for immigration violations.
Activist Sheng Xue said Dong left Weifang, spent more than 30 hours at sea, and was close to fainting when he reached South Korean waters.
Dong previously had UN refugee protection in Thailand, was sent back to China, and later served prison time tied to subversion and illegal-border charges.
His family lives in Canada, and rights advocates are pressing South Korea not to return him.

🇺🇦🇺🇸 UKRAINE & US
Patriot Shortage Warning

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent President Donald Trump an urgent letter warning that Ukraine is running short on the systems it needs to stop Russian ballistic missiles.
The Ask:
Zelenskyy said Ukraine relies almost exclusively on the US for anti-ballistic defense and asked Trump and Congress to help secure Patriot PAC-3 missiles and additional systems.
The letter says deliveries through PURL, the NATO-coordinated program where allies buy US weapons for Ukraine, are no longer keeping up with Russian attacks.

🇮🇱 ISRAEL
Hamas Military Chief Killed

Israel killed Mohammed Odeh, Hamas's newly appointed military chief, and Hamas confirmed the strike hit him in Gaza City on Tuesday. Hamas is a US-designated terrorist group, and Odeh was a senior commander in its Qassam Brigades.
What We Know:
Israel said Odeh had run Hamas intelligence during the Oct. 7 attack and helped plan infiltration routes and targets. Hamas said he had spent more than 30 years inside the group.
Odeh had taken over less than 2 weeks after Israel killed Izz al-Din al-Haddad, his predecessor.
Hamas said Odeh's wife and 2 children were also killed in the strike.
