CIA Paid to Bury Crucial COVID Info (Allegedly)

No, it’s not news about a “new dominant variant."

It’s CIA getting sued for allegedly burying crucial COVID-related info.

🇮🇷 Iran Threatens to Assassinate Netanyahu

Iran’s military released a cartoonish video showing the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a bomb blast.

The video is a response to the killing of a senior Iranian military adviser in Syria, which Iran blames on Israel.

  • Adviser: Sayyed Razi Mousavi was a top coordinator of Iran’s military alliance with Syria and one of the country's longest-serving Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officials.

  • Warning: Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi said that Israel would “certainly pay the price” for Mousavi’s death and vowed to take necessary measures.

Honestly, the video’s production quality took me back to the early 2000s.

🇷🇺 Russia Trolls US

Speaking of videos, a video showing President Joe Biden singing in Russian and dancing with “scientists” has been shared online as a propaganda stunt by Russia.

The video, allegedly aired by Russian state media, mocks the US for its claims of election interference by Russia.

  • Song: The fake Biden sings “I’m Russian, and I’m lucky,” and "I’m Russian, and may the world go to hell."

  • Message: The video ends with a voice saying Russia will “interfere, interfere, and will continue to interfere” in elections.

Say what you will about the propaganda, but the production quality is much better than that of the Iranian video above.

🇮🇳 India Embassy Blast

A mysterious explosion near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi on Tuesday triggered a high alert for all Israeli missions worldwide.

The blast, which caused no injuries, was followed by a letter threatening revenge for Israel’s actions in Gaza.

  • Suspects: Indian media reported that two people were seen on security footage near the scene of the blast.

  • Iranian link: Israel suspects that Iran’s Quds Force was behind the attack, as it has been in previous incidents.

  • Retaliation: The explosion came a day after an Iranian general was killed in an alleged Israeli airstrike in Syria.

🇦🇷 Argentina’s Radical Reforms

Javier Milei, the new president of Argentina, has unveiled a series of drastic measures to overhaul the country’s failing economy.

The libertarian leader is delivering on his promise to slash the size of the government, privatize state-owned companies, and deregulate the markets.

  • Firing: More than 5,000 government employees hired in 2023 will lose their jobs, and others will be reviewed.

  • Devaluation: The Argentine peso has been devalued by 50 percent, reducing energy and transportation subsidies.

  • Privatization: Many government ministries and companies will be closed or sold to private investors.

  • Protests: The cutbacks have sparked demonstrations by workers and social movements, but Milei is determined to press on.

CIA Buried Crucial COVID Info?

🔍 CIA in the Spotlight. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States of America is facing a lawsuit from the Oversight Project, an offshoot of the conservative Heritage Foundation.

  • Accusation: The lawsuit alleges that the CIA withheld records detailing it paying off analysts to suppress findings that a lab leak was the most likely explanation for the COVID-19 pandemic.

⚖️ The Legal Battle. The lawsuit was filed on December 22, accusing the CIA of not complying with a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request about analysts who allegedly received monetary incentives to change their position on the origins of the virus.

  • The suit demands the CIA expedite the production of records requested by Heritage within 20 days or by a date deemed appropriate by the court.

🕵️ Whistleblower Allegations. A senior-level CIA agent alleged back in September that the agency created a COVID Discovery Team - comprised of seven analysts.

  • Findings: Six thought the virus originated from Wuhan, whereas the seventh believed it originated through zoonosis.

  • Payoff: CIA allegedly offered “a significant monetary incentive” to the six analysts to change their position.

  • What did they have to do? Say that the virus jumped from animals to humans, instead of originating from Wuhan, China.

  • The Letter: This allegation was made in a Sept. 12 letter from Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic Chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio) and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner (R-Ohio) to CIA Director William Burns, where they requested all documents regarding the matter from CIA’s COVID Discovery Team.

🔬 More Info. The whistleblower claimed that:

  • Six of the seven members of the team believed that the intelligence and science were sufficient to make “a low confidence assessment that COVID-19 originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China.”

  • The seventh member, who was the most senior, believed COVID-19 originated through zoonosis.

👨‍⚕️ Dr. Fauci’s Involvement. In another letter from Brad Wenstrup to US Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General Christi Grimm, it has also been alleged that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIH or NIAID), was “escorted” into CIA headquarters to influence the findings of those analysts.

❓ The biggest question here: If Fauci did try to influence the findings of the Team, why did he do it? What does he have to gain from controlling the narrative? Does the NIH’s prior funding of gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology have to do with it?

“In 2014, the NIH awarded a grant to the U.S.-based EcoHealth Alliance to study the risk of the future emergence of coronaviruses from bats. In 2019, the project was renewed for another five years, but it was canceled in April 2020 — three months after the first case of the coronavirus was confirmed in the U.S.”

  • The NIH also explained the purpose and processes of this research amid a public backlash.

  • There are certainly a lot of unknowns and wild speculations. This doesn’t mean we should fill in these gaps with more unsubstantiated assumptions. We should always work with facts.

It will be interesting to see what this lawsuit reveals.
