✈️ US Bombs Iran-Backed Militants (Again)

In response to at least 40 attacks since October 27, US warplanes struck back. Eastern Syria’s weapons storage, a playground for Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and its affiliates, felt the heat.

What’s the significance of October 27? That’s when the US first struck Iran-backed militants since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

🎯 Tlaib Censured by House

The US House of Representatives has voted to censure Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib, the only Palestinian American in Congress, over alleged Hamas propaganda and antisemitic remarks.

Antisemitic remarks? Tlaib promoted the phrase “from the river to the sea in this video. The slogan was first used as a call for Israel’s dissolution as a Jewish state.

What is censuring? A formal condemnation second only to expulsion from the House.

Result: 234-188.

A 77-year-old US-Panamanian lawyer and professor, Kenneth Darlington, was arrested after killing two environmental protesters on a highway in Panama. The protesters were blocking the road over a mining contract dispute.

He was also filmed in action.

💣 Boom Goes the Traitor

What happens when a pro-Russian Ukrainian lawmaker, allegedly involved in torture camps in occupied eastern Ukraine, walks over to his car on a Wednesday morning?

He is blown up. 😬

This is exactly what happened to Mikhail Filiponenko.

One might assume that Ukraine would deny such an attack, right? However, a representative of Ukraine’s Military Intelligence Directorate had this to say about it:

“Yeah, it was our operation.”

Hezbollah’s Bomb Plot: Busted

🚨 Hezbollah Plot Foiled. Brazilian police arrested two men with suspected ties to the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. They were allegedly planning to launch terror attacks against the Jewish community in Brazil.

🔫 The Operation. The arrests were made on Wednesday as part of an operation to "interrupt preparations for acts of terrorism and obtain evidence about the possible recruitment of Brazilians to commit of extremist acts," according to police.

🕵️ Suspects. One man, flying in from Lebanon, was caught at Brazil’s São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport, armed with “information” to pass on to his partner in crime. They both reportedly had links to Hezbollah, a powerful Iran-funded militant group that the US and the UK consider a terrorist organization.

😱 The Targets. According to media reports, the suspects were targeting buildings belonging to Brazil’s Jewish community, including synagogues. Brazil has the second largest Jewish population in Latin America, as well as the oldest synagogue in the Americas.

🇮🇱 Netanyahu’s Office. The office of Israeli PM Netanyahu revealed that Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency, along with several international security agencies, had a hand in the operation.

🌎 The Implications. The case raises questions about Hezbollah’s presence and influence in South America, where it is believed to have a network of supporters and financiers.

🤔 My Thoughts. I think this is an alarming news story. It shows just how close we are to having the Israel-Hamas conflict spread globally. Imagine the unthinkable if the attack succeeded. That being said, it’s also a reminder of the importance of international cooperation in preventing such attacks.
