Russia Fires a Nuke Missile from Sub

Hi Global Recap readers,

We begin this week’s newsletter with a bang - literally. You may be able to get a peek at it below.

Do you see a bright light? Well, that’s a nuke missile, fired by Russia.

Don’t worry though, “It’s just a test bro.”

🌐 Around the world:

  • Russia fires a nuke missile.

  • Bernie breaks with the Squad.

  • Turkish protestors storm US air base.

  • Gaza City: Severed.

  • CCP Crept into Florida Under DeSantis’ Watch.

Let’s get into today’s news.

🚀 Russia Fires a Nuke Missile from Sub

Watch it soar and hear it roar.

Russia has tested a nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile from a new submarine amid rising tensions with the West over Ukraine.

  • Missile: Bulava.

  • Range: Around 5,000 miles (8,000km).

  • Capacity: Up to six nuclear warheads.

This comes after Russia recently scrapped a global treaty banning nuclear tests.

This is not good news for anyone.

🇵🇸 Bernie Breaks with Squad

Bernie Sanders, the progressive icon, rejected calls for a permanent ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, saying "Hamas has got to go."

This is a clashing viewpoint with his far-left Squad allies in Congress like Tlaib and Omar, who pin the Middle East turmoil solely on Israel and demand a Gaza ceasefire.

“I don’t know how you can have a permanent ceasefire with an organization like Hamas, which is dedicated to turmoil and chaos and destroying the state of Israel.”

Senator Bernie Sanders

At the same time, he stressed the urgent need for a pause on the bombings by Israel to avert a humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

I wonder how the Squad feels about Bernie now.

🇹🇷 Protestors Storm US Air Base

Turkish police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse chaotic pro-Palestinian protesters outside a US military base in Turkey, hours before US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Ankara.

The base is called the Incirlik Air Base and here’s the kicker: it houses nuclear weapons. 😨

✂️ Gaza City: Severed

Israeli ground troops in Gaza, November 6, 2023.

Israel has cut off northern Gaza from the rest of the strip and intensified its airstrikes. Overnight, 450 targets were struck and a Hamas compound was seized.

The US has failed to broker a humanitarian pause or a cease-fire, despite visiting the region.

CCP Crept into Florida Under DeSantis’ Watch

🎲 Under DeSantis’ Watch. You may know Florida Governor DeSantis for his strong stance against China’s increasing influence in the US and the potential national security risks it presents.

Would you believe it if I told you, despite his stance, that he let a subsidiary of a US-sanctioned Chinese company expand near a military base in Florida during his governorship?

👨‍👩‍👦 The Parent and Its Subsidiary. The company is called Cirrus Aircraft, a subsidiary of China’s state-owned firm called Aviation Industry Corp. (AVIC). AVIC is under US sanctions due to its ties with China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the potential national security risks these connections pose.

🛩️ Cirrus Aircraft’s Controversial Expansion. It opened two new locations in Florida in 2022. One of them is at the Orlando Executive Airport, less than 13 miles away from the US Navy’s Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division.

✌️ Let’s Be Fair. In DeSantis’ defense, Cirrus is currently NOT under US sanctions. However, experts believe that it still poses a risk to the US national security due to its ties to the Chinese government.

🤥 DeSantis’ Double Standard. The governor, who is running for president in 2024, has made China-bashing a central theme of his campaign. He has even signed bills to prevent Chinese influence and espionage in his state and criticized President Biden for being weak on China.

Here is DeSantis posing in front of one of their planes (Cirrus SR 22) while slamming Biden regarding the spy balloon controversy
