Israel Accepts
Hi Global Recap readers,

This week feels like a bit of a limbo, with everyone nervously waiting for key developments:
a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s Jackson Hole speech for hints on interest rate cuts
the outcome of Ukraine’s incursion into Russia.
It feels really tense and hectic right now, even though the news is unusually sparse. From my experience, the world has a knack for throwing curveballs when things seem calm…
Weird feeling.

Russians are scratching their heads after President Vladimir Putin sent his “space troops” to defend the Kursk region due to a manpower shortage amid a Ukrainian incursion.
Space Troops in Kursk
Putin’s decision to deploy “space troops” to Kursk has left many baffled.
The unit, created between May and June, includes personnel from security and logistics companies, engineers, mechanics, and servicemen from a Russian spaceport.

Around 5,000 personnel have been redeployed from the front line in Ukraine to Kursk.

Ukrainian Incursion
Ukraine’s surprise incursion into Kursk has been significant.
Since August 6, Ukrainian forces have seized 1,250 square kilometers of Russian territory and 92 settlements.
