"Lock him up," he says

Hi Global Recap readers,

With only days left until the presidential election, President Joe Biden seems to be making a last-ditch effort to campaign for his party’s nominee, Kamala Harris.

However, in doing so, he may have made a rather controversial remark, especially considering that his party is accused of using the law to target political opponents. Heck, they are allegedly using it against a fellow party member who spoke out against their immigration policy (cough, Mayor Adams).

💭 But you recall your history, he’s not the only one who has said this.

Biden Calls for Trump to Be Locked Up

He isn’t being coy about it anymore; President Biden has forthrightly suggested that former President Donald Trump should be jailed just two weeks before the 2024 election.

Biden’s Bold Statement

Biden called for Trump to be jailed during a campaign visit.

  • He said, “We gotta lock him up,” which was met with applause.

  • But to give Biden credit, he later clarified, saying he meant “politically, lock him up.”

🤔 But does this clarification even matter? How is politically imprisoning a presidential candidate any different from just imprisoning him?

Trump’s Legal Troubles

Trump currently faces multiple legal challenges.

  • He is convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records in May.

  • Also, there are pending federal and state charges in Georgia related to the 2020 election.

  • Meanwhile, federal prosecutors are trying to revive a case about his alleged mishandling of classified records.

Public Reaction

Biden’s remarks have sparked outrage among Trump supporters.

  • His supporters allege that the current administration first tried to use lawfare against Trump, then attempted assassinations, and now they’re running out of options.

  • The White House has not clarified Biden’s comments.

👨‍✈️ However, to be fair, Former President Trump used to call for his political opponents to be jailed as well.

Truck Driver Tries Piloting

Recently, a video surfaced online claiming to show a Taliban truck driver attempting to pilot an American Blackhawk helicopter left behind by the US military when it hurriedly left Afghanistan.

Enough said.

Lost Count of Them All

Israel recently confirmed that Hashem Safieddine, the newly appointed head of Hezbollah following his cousin Nasrallah’s death, has been eliminated.

However, even before him, there was reportedly another replacement who was eliminated just hours after being appointed, though this fact was not widely covered by mainstream media.

Hence, this post was born.

And of course there’s this photo to follow it:

Gazawood

There is absolutely no doubt that civilians are being killed in Gaza. Regardless of whether one is pro-Israel or pro-Hamas, this fact is incontrovertible. The divergence in opinion lies in Israel’s intentions—are they purposefully targeting civilians, or are these unfortunate casualties a result of Hamas hiding among civilians?

However, one also cannot deny the existence of a phenomenon known as Gazawood or Pallywood (a play on the word Hollywood), where individuals are blatantly acting as if they are getting constantly being bombed by Israel for a quick buck.

  • These individuals are using children to elicit sympathy, and it is quite obvious; yet many in the pro-Palestine camp share these clips as if they are authentic.

  • Next time you see some of these clips, just ask yourself: Why are they filming some of these videos, which supposedly show them in dire situations, with expensive camera stabilizers and blatantly discernible sound effects?

This X account compiles and scrutinizes such clips.

Pentagon Leaker Exposed?

Ariane Tabatabai

Some believe we may have identified the senior Pentagon staffer responsible for leaking Israel’s plans for an attack on Iran.

  • So, who’s the possible culprit? Ariane Tabatabai, an Iranian American working in the office of US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, is at the center of this controversy.

  • But wait, the Pentagon says the report is false.

Who to believe?

The Accusation

Tabatabai is accused of leaking classified documents.

  • Sky News Arabia initially reported that Tabatabai was the main suspect in the FBI’s investigation.

  • The leaked documents disclosed Israel’s plans for a potential retaliatory attack on Iran.

  • The leak has raised significant concerns among US and Israeli officials, as it could undermine the trust between the two allied nations and impact their mutual intelligence-sharing.

Pentagon’s Response

However, the Pentagon has denied these allegations.

  • Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder stated that Tabatabai is not a subject of interest.

The Investigation

The FBI is on the case, investigating the leak of two highly classified intelligence documents with the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community.

  • The documents were shared within the “Five Eyes” intelligence alliance as well, which includes the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.

Ariane Tabatabai

So why are people accusing her?

  • In September 2023, emails and correspondence allegedly linking Tabatabai to the Iran Experts Initiative were reported.

  • Her top-secret security clearance was reviewed in October 2023 following allegations, but it was upheld after the investigations.

🤔 Let’s see how this investigation unfolds. If the FBI ultimately finds Tabatabai responsible, I can’t imagine the extent of damage control the administration will need to undertake to restore its already dwindling credibility.

Hamas Played US Like a Fiddle

Yahya Sinwar (left), US President Joe Biden (middle), and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (right).

The US continues to push for an elusive “ceasefire,” but it seems Yahya Sinwar, the late Hamas leader, was never interested in peace.

  • As the search for him intensified, he instructed Hamas to reject any concessions from Israel, believing that high civilian casualties would enhance their negotiating power.

  • What a twisted strategy, right? Sinwar’s death hasn’t altered Hamas’ brutal tactics one bit. Makes you wonder, how far will this go?

Sinwar’s Orders

According to reports, Sinwar instructed Hamas to refuse any Israeli concessions after his death.

  • He believed high civilian casualties gave Hamas more negotiating power.

  • He wanted a leadership council to ensure Hamas continued his tactics.

According to the Wall Street Journal:

“In March, Israeli commandos seized another compound connected to Sinwar. They found uniforms, vests, submachine guns, binoculars and a laptop.

Again, Sinwar messaged Hamas officials, urging them to refuse a hostage deal. Hamas had the upper hand in negotiations, Sinwar said, citing internal political divisions within Israel, cracks in Netanyahu’s wartime coalition and mounting U.S. pressure to alleviate the suffering in Gaza.”

This is quite damning for both the US and the pro-Hamas camp. It shows that the US government and protesters have been playing into Hamas’ hands for months.

Continued Conflict

Sinwar’s death hasn’t stopped the violence.

  • He also told Hamas to ignore Arab peace negotiators’ demands.

  • He saw US pressure on Israel as a reason to continue fighting.

Blinken’s Visit

And yet again, the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, is in Israel pushing for “ceasefire.”

  • On Tuesday, he met with Israeli PM Netanyahu for two and a half hours in Jerusalem.

  • Does he not know that him pressuring Israel is only strengthening Hamas, a terrorist organization?
