NATO Base Evacuated
Hi Global Recap readers,

On this day in 1775, King George III issued the Proclamation of Rebellion, declaring that the American colonies were in open rebellion and ordered officials to suppress the uprising.
Reading these pieces of history, it’s tough to really connect with them because they feel so far removed from our lives. But imagine our future generations looking back at the Middle East conflict or the Russia-Ukraine war. How will they feel reading about those events?
It’s hard to fathom.

🇦🇫 AFGHANISTAN
New Taliban Laws Ban Women’s Voices

The Taliban has introduced new laws that severely restrict women’s freedoms in Afghanistan. But that’s nothing new right?
What if I told you they can’t even sing or talk out loud?
Women’s Public Appearance
These laws, approved by the supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada, are part of the group’s ongoing efforts to enforce their interpretation of Islamic law.
Women must cover their faces in public and avoid tight or short clothing.
Women are banned from looking at men who are not related by marriage or blood.
They are also prohibited from singing or reading out loud.
Restrictions on Activities
The laws cover various aspects of daily life, including celebrations, music, and transportation.
Women’s voices are banned in public spaces.
Shaving and other personal grooming activities are also regulated.
Background
These laws follow a July UN report accusing the Taliban of human rights violations.
The Taliban rejected the UN’s claims.
The group has been in power since the US withdrawal in 2021.

🇺🇦 UKRAINE
Ukraine Used US Glide Bombs Strike

Ukraine’s armed forces have used US-made glide bombs to eliminate 40 Russian troops in a daring incursion in the Kursk region. This marks a significant blow to Moscow’s forces.
Precision Strike
Ukrainian forces successfully targeted a Russian platoon base in Kursk.
The attack utilized high-precision American GBU-39 bombs.
Footage shows multiple explosions and thick smoke.
The strike hit a UAV control point, electronic warfare unit, equipment, weapons, and up to 40 Russian servicemen.
Strategic Impact
The incursion aims to disrupt Russian offensive capabilities.
Kyiv’s forces now control 93 settlements in the Kursk region.
The attack forces Russia to redeploy troops from the front lines in Ukraine to Kursk.
This redeployment could affect the pace of Russian offensive operations.
Advanced Weaponry
Glide bombs represent a blend of old and new military technologies.
These bombs are modified with wings and navigation systems for extended range and accuracy.
They can travel further and are more accurate than unguided bombs.
The use of glide bombs is a “new and innovative” application of Western military aid.
Broader Context
The conflict continues to escalate with significant impacts on both sides.
Russia has been using Soviet-era munitions retrofitted with GPS navigation systems.
These modified munitions cause massive destruction to military and civilian infrastructure.
The ongoing conflict has seen devastating effects, including recent attacks in Kharkiv and Belgorod.

India continues to purchase Russian oil and weapons.
Modi explained India’s market strategy for buying Russian oil to Zelensky.
