RUSSIA

Putin’s Predetermined Victory

In Russia’s latest election, Vladimir Putin secured a landslide victory, ensuring his rule until at least 2030.

But the numbers seem a bit cooked if you know what I mean.

  • 🗳️ Election. With opposition quashed and dissent outlawed, Putin faced no credible challenge, leading to an anticipated win.

  • 📊 Result. Putin comfortably won with 87.3% of the vote on a turnout of 77.5%.

  • 📝 Record. Joseph Stalin was in power for approximately 29 years. Close on his heels is Putin, who has been in power for 25 years. If Putin remains in power for a few more years without being ousted or passing away, he will surpass Stalin to become the Russian leader with the longest tenure.

NATO in Ukraine

In a press conference following his victory declaration, the Russian President acknowledged the presence of armed Western forces in Ukraine.

  • He says he “hears” French and English being spoken.

  • It seems like they are there to instruct the Ukraine military on how to use Western weapons, etc.

US

SpaceX’s Secret Spy Satellites

SpaceX is reportedly constructing a classified satellite network for US intelligence, enhancing the synergy between Elon Musk’s space ventures and national security.

  • 🛰️ Expansion. Under a $1.8 billion contract with the National Reconnaissance Office, SpaceX’s Starshield unit is developing a vast spy satellite network.

  • 🔍 Surveillance. This initiative aims to significantly improve the US government’s ability to monitor global activities, potentially allowing “no one to hide.”

  • 💡 Innovation. The project reflects a shift towards low-Earth orbit systems, offering rapid, persistent Earth imaging, and showcases SpaceX’s growing role in defense.

PALESTINE

Fatah Blames Hamas

President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas (left) with the new Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa

Fatah, the leading Palestinian political party, criticized Hamas for the Oct. 7 invasion and its leaders’ lavish lifestyle.

  • 🔍 Scrutiny. Fatah is quoted as saying:

“Did Hamas consult the Palestinian leadership or any Palestinian national party when it made its decision to carry out the ‘adventure’ of last October 7, which led to a catastrophe more horrific and crueler than the Nakba of 1948?”

“Those who were responsible for the return of the occupation to the Gaza Strip and [who] caused the Nakba which our Palestinian people live… have no right to dictate national priorities.”

  • 👥 Context. The appointment of Mohammed Mustafa as the new Prime Minister by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is seen as a move towards unification and reform, although critics are skeptical he can produce results. This appointment is not sitting well with Hamas.

So will this public feud between Fatah and Hamas influence the future narratives of pro-Palestine and anti-Israel advocates?

NORTH KOREA

Missiles Amidst Diplomacy

North Korea fired several short-range ballistic missiles into the sea, coinciding with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to Seoul.

  • 🌐 Condemnation. The missile launches drew international criticism, with Japan and the US condemning the act as a violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

If North Korea isn’t trying to make people indifferent to its missile launches, it should understand that its continuous missile tests are gradually losing their impact.

If it indeed intends to desensitize its enemies to lower their guard, Kim is doing a great job.
