🌐 Opinion

Before signing off last week, I left you with a question: “Who do you think was responsible for the plane crash that killed Prigozhin?”

Here’s the result:

  • Kremlin: 73%

  • US: 3%

  • Blame the weather: 2%

  • Prigozhin’s still alive: 22%

This is what I had expected.

  • 🇺🇸 Speaking about the US, some of you accidentally clicked on it, thinking it might reveal more about its possible involvement!

No worries, though. Let me share a theory that's making the rounds.

👷 Here it is tinfoilers: Just a day before Prigozhin’s plane went down in flames, the US issued a top-level travel warning for Belarus. They urged Americans to get out and stay away from the country.

🚨 The urgent scrambling. At the time, it left many scratching their heads, wondering why the sudden urgency. After all, the war in Ukraine has been raging on for months. We’ve also known about the Wagner buildup in the country for days. Why now?

🧩 But things started coming together. After Prigozhin's death, people started connecting the dots, suggesting that the US might have had a heads-up about foul play with the plane. The idea is, armed with this intel, the US wanted to lessen the risk of things spiraling out of control. And at the same time, it kind of dropped a subtle and cheeky hint to Putin that it's got some insider connections in the Kremlin. 💪🏼

Now, I admit, there are some gaps in this theory, but I am just a messenger.

  • ⛈️ Let's talk about blaming the weather: Yeah, it's a possibility, I guess. But the weather was supposedly clear on that day. So this seems extremely unlikely.

  • 😏 Your belief that Prigozhin might still be alive is also intriguing. Many of you reckon he's pulled off the whole body double trick before and wouldn't slip up like this. I'm on board with that thinking too. After all, he managed to keep his head above water for a solid 2 months after putting a target on Putin's back. Seems like quite the sharp cookie.
