This is absolutely bats***

Hi Global Recap readers,
Longtime readers might remember that in the early days of Global Recap, I loved diving into some “tinfoil” theories—mostly just for fun.
Before jumping in, I’d usually throw in a gif like this to give everyone a heads-up. 👇️
But today’s first story? While it comes from someone the mainstream labels a conspiracy theorist, I actually tested his claim—and it checked out.
Now, is his interpretation of it a stretch? Maybe.
I’ll let you decide.

🍎 APPLE
Apple’s Gaslighting?
This is absolutely insane.
I first stumbled upon a video of Alex Jones claiming that Apple is running a psyop.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Alex Jones? The conspiracy guy?”
Trust me, I was skeptical too.
🗯️ His claim: If you use an iPhone’s voice-to-text and say the word “racist,” the phone initially transcribes it as “Trump” before quickly correcting itself back to “racist.”
I laughed it off and had to test it myself—no way this was real.
But to my shock, it actually happened.
Apple’s Response
Apple is reportedly on the case and promises a quick fix. They acknowledged the speech recognition model glitch and assured users it’s being addressed.
An Apple spokesperson stated: “We are aware of an issue with the speech recognition model that powers Dictation, and we are rolling out a fix as soon as possible.”
The glitch affects words with an “r” consonant, the company explained.
🤔 Thoughts: I have to call BS on that last part.
As someone who dabbles in coding and has worked with voice recognition models like OpenAI’s Whisper, I’ve never once seen “racist” transcribed as “Trump.” Not even close.
History of Tech Bias
This isn't the first tech controversy involving supposed “political bias.” Remember the Amazon Alexa incident?
In September, Amazon’s Alexa faced backlash for providing reasons to vote for Kamala Harris but not Donald Trump.
Same goes for OpenAI’s ChatGPT. One infamous example: if you ask it to write a poem praising Trump, it refuses—claiming it's too political or controversial. But ask it to do the same for Biden? Suddenly, it’s spitting out a glowing, poetic tribute without hesitation.
Social Media Reactions
Of course, this triggered a flood of opinions online. People are questioning whether it’s a simple glitch or intentional.
One TikTok user called it “subliminal messaging.”
Others raised concerns about tech companies' influence on political views.
📊 Poll
What’s your take on this?
Do you think it's a total “tin” to believe Apple deliberately hard-coded this into the model?
Could an activist employee have slipped this "glitch" in on purpose?
Or is it just a random technical hiccup?
What do you think?(Live poll) |

🇨🇩 DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
Mystery Illness
Kills Over 50

A mysterious disease is wreaking havoc in the Democratic Republic of Congo, claiming more than 50 lives in a short span.
Despite all the chaos of COVID-19 and years of debate over whether bats played a role in its spread, it’s happened again.
Outbreak Details
The outbreak reportedly began on January 21, 2025, in Boloko and has since spread to Bomate.
Boloko: First outbreak with 419 cases and 53 deaths.
Bomate: Second outbreak started on February 9, 2025.
The majority of deaths happen within 48 hours of symptom onset.

Possible Cause
Three children reportedly ate a bat and died following symptoms of hemorrhagic fever. 🤦🏻
Samples from 13 cases tested negative for Ebola and other hemorrhagic fever diseases.
Some samples tested positive for malaria, but not all.
Authorities' Response
Medical experts and authorities are scrambling to identify the disease.
Serge Ngalebato, Medical Director of Bikoro Hospital, expresses deep concern.
Samples have been sent to the National Institute for Biomedical Research in Kinshasa.

🇹🇼 TAIWAN
China Suspected
in Cable Cut

Taiwan is investigating what it calls a “gray zone” action by China after an undersea cable connecting Taiwan and Penghu was severed.
A Chinese-crewed vessel, the Hong Tai 168, has been detained.
Incident Overview
This drama started on February 22, when the Hong Tai 168 was hanging out a bit too close—925 meters (0.5 miles), to be exact—to the undersea cable.
Then, on February 25, Taiwan's Coast Guard (CGA) showed up at 2:30 am to move them along.
Surprise, surprise! The cable was cut by 3 am, and all eight crewmembers, who are Chinese nationals, were detained.
Investigation Underway
The coast guard is investigating whether the cable cut was intentional or accidental.
The ship did not respond to multiple broadcasts from Taiwan’s coast guard.
Authorities suspect a potential Chinese “gray zone operation,” which refers to coercive actions falling short of war.
So what’s next? While the cut didn't disrupt communications, this incident is more than just an inconvenience.
Past Incidents
This is not the first time undersea cables around Taiwan have faced suspicious damage.
In January, a Chinese-linked cargo vessel was suspected of cutting another undersea cable off Taiwan’s northern coast.
Similar incidents in 2023 saw cables connecting Taiwan’s main island to its outlying Matsu islands damaged, leading to internet blackouts.

🇮🇱 ISRAEL
IDF Foils 100 kg
Bomb Plot in West Bank
Israeli forces recently foiled a major terrorist plot involving a massive 100 kg bomb in Kabatiya. They seized weapons and detained multiple suspects during the operation.
Operation Details
In the northern West Bank, the Shin Bet and IDF dismantled a significant explosive device and apprehended 15 terrorists.
The operation involved Nahal Brigade troops under Shin Bet’s direction.
Soldiers searched dozens of terrorist infrastructure sites.
A high-powered improvised explosive device was among the explosives dismantled.
Defense Minister
Defense Minister Israel Katz emphasized the need for continued military presence and preventive actions.
Katz stated that large numbers of Palestinian civilians would be prevented from returning to suspected terrorist hotspots.
The army will remain in certain areas like parts of Jenin indefinitely.
