Urgent: We Got Deleted

Hi Global Recap readers,

First off, apologies… today’s update isn’t our usual deep dive into world events. I wasn’t sure if I should even write this, but things are looking pretty dire.

  • As you probably know, we rely on our BusinessBasics YouTube channel to help fund the free daily Global Recap emails you get from us.

  • What started as a simple misunderstanding with YouTube over our new channel has now escalated—our main channel is on the verge of being completely “vanished.”

Here’s what’s happening: 👇️

1. Background

A screenshot of the email we received from YouTube, saying that our new channel has been “removed.”

  • How it started. A few days ago, we launched a brand-new compilation channel, featuring our best videos in one binge-worthy watch. We weren’t the only ones jumping on the trend. YouTube has been pushing longer content, and creators like MrBeast were doing the same. Thanks to our incredible viewers, the video racked up over 100,000 views in just three days. For a moment, everything looked promising.

  • Rejected. But then, our monetization application was flatly rejected—YouTube claimed we were “just copying BusinessBasics videos.” We figured it was a mistake—after all, we ARE BusinessBasics. But that wasn’t the worst of it.

  • Deleted. Just hours later, we got an email saying that our entire channel had been removed for “severe or repeated violations of our spam, deceptive practices, and scams policy.” In other words, YouTube had deleted it.

2. YouTube’s Flip-Flop

Screenshot of our interaction with a YouTube Support Specialist

YouTube’s explanations have been all over the map:

  • First, they mentioned reused content;

  • Then, they pointed to spam and deceptive practices, and according to a chat with a support specialist, even “misinformation policies” became part of the narrative.

  • This isn’t a one-off hiccup—we’ve been hit with channel takedowns four times in the past 12 months, and not one appeal has ever been honored. During testing, we even had two identical videos receive completely opposite rulings on whether they were suitable for advertisers.

3. Here’s the crux

  • When YouTube deletes one channel, they don’t stop there—they crack down on every channel you’ve ever owned.

  • That means if this mistake isn’t corrected, our main BusinessBasics channel—seven years of work by our entire team of dedicated writers, editors, and researchers—could be wiped out next.

We’ve always tried to bring you the unfiltered truth—whether about the wars in Ukraine and Israel, the trade war between the US and China, etc. But lately, it’s starting to feel like being honest, especially when it comes to anything involving the CCP, is ticking off some pretty powerful people at YouTube.

4. Your Help

Now we’re turning to you. The only way we’ve ever gotten YouTube’s attention is with a loud enough outcry on Twitter/X.

  • So if you could, please repost our appeal on X and help us get YouTube’s attention.

  • Your voice might be the push they need to get real humans to take a second look and set things right.

5. Closing

Thank you, as always, for being part of this community.

  • If YouTube wins, whether through indifference or just not listening, this could be goodbye for good.

  • But with your help, we still believe there’s a chance to turn this around.

With much gratitude,

BusinessBasics/Global Recap
