Putin’s War Support Dropping Fast

🇷🇺 Are Russians ready for peace? A recent poll by Russian Field, a nonpartisan Moscow-based research company, shows that support for Putin’s war in Ukraine has dropped significantly.
45% of respondents are in favor of continuing the “special military operation.”
44% now support peace talks (up from 35% in April 2022).
But if a second wave of mobilization would occur:
35% are in favor of continuing the war.
54% would prefer peace negotiations.
And, 35% also said the war needn’t have started in the first place (up from 28% in March 2022).

🚨 US government agencies have once again been infiltrated, prompting US officials and Microsoft to scramble for a solution.
According to reports, a Chinese state-backed cyber-espionage group has successfully infiltrated not just one or two, but two dozen government agencies, including the US State Department and Western European agencies. The hackers gained access to Microsoft-powered email accounts through an exploit in Microsoft Cloud as part of their ongoing efforts to spy on and steal sensitive data. Microsoft's cybersecurity teams mitigated the compromise after it was first reported in mid-June 2023.
This is already the second time in recent months that US officials have acknowledged a China-based cyberattack on US government infrastructure.
But China’s answer to these accusations? “Disinformation.”

G7 Guarantees Long-Term Security for Ukraine

🌍 The G7 coalition has unveiled a long-term security framework for Ukraine, pledging to support its sovereignty, democracy, and NATO aspirations. And Moscow is not amused.
The joint declaration, announced on Wednesday, condemns Russia’s “illegal and unprovoked invasion” of Ukraine and vows to stand with Kyiv “as long as it takes”. The coalition also said it would help Ukraine implement a reform agenda to improve its governance and economy.
The announcement came after NATO failed to extend a formal invitation to Ukraine to join the military alliance at its summit on Tuesday. NATO Secretary-General Stoltenberg said certain conditions need to be met, without mentioning a specific timeline. But he also announced that NATO had agreed on a “substantial package” of political and practical support for Ukraine, including the creation of a NATO-Ukraine Council.
🇷🇺 Meanwhile, Russia reacted angrily to the G7’s intentions to provide security guarantees to Ukraine, calling them “erroneous and dangerous” and a breach of its own security.
