US Prepares 2,000 Troops

Hi Global Recap readers,

You know what? I sat to write today’s newsletter and thought…

“Something isn’t right…”

Then it hit me. The design.

Yep, it needed a jolt of life.

In the upcoming days, I will sprinkle tweaks here and there to spruce things up. I am sure our eagle-eyed readers can spot the changes, no matter how subtle. 😉

Don’t forget to rate the revamp at the end!

🌐 Around the world:

  • Iran Threatens Israel with Preemptive Strike.

  • Terrorist Attack in Brussels.

  • Russia’s Drone Secret Unveiled.

  • US Prepares 2,000 Troops.

  • Columbian Professor Praises Hamas.

Let’s get into today’s news.

🇮🇷 Iran Threatens Israel with Preemptive Strike. Iran’s foreign minister says Hamas terrorists may launch a preemptive attack on Israel in the next few hours. He warns that Israel will face a “change in the map” if the conflict escalates.

Is this just a scare tactic or a credible threat?

🔫 Terrorist Attack in Brussels. A lone wolf terrorist wreaked havoc in Brussels, brutally killing two Swedish football fans. The gunman professed in a self-filmed video that he is inspired by Islamic State.

Before being neutralized by police, he motorcycled around the city and remained at large for hours, stoking fear among Belgians.

✈️ Russia’s Drone Secret Unveiled. In a SHOCKING revelation, Russia’s finance minister admits to a secret that NOBODY knew about - China is the main supplier of their drones.

Despite Beijing’s no-military-aid promise, it seems they’ve been playing both sides. Russia is working on developing its own drone base but it remains a pipe dream.

🪖 US Prepares 2,000 Troops. The US has reportedly put 2,000 troops on standby for deployment in the Middle East as Iran’s rhetoric and Israel’s airstrikes heat up.

Also, Biden is set to visit Israel and Jordan on Wednesday.

Columbia Professor Praises Hamas

🚀 Hamas’ “Awesome” Attacks. A Columbia professor lauded the terrorist group’s deadly attacks on Israel as a “stunning victory.” Little did he anticipate the storm of outrage that was about to hit him. First, it was Harvard students, and now… a Columbia teacher?

👨‍🏫 Professor Joseph Massad’s Controversial Article. On October 8, he penned an article on The Electronic Intifada, an anti-Israel platform. He hailed Hamas’ “astonishing” and “incredible” assaults on October 7 as a “stunning victory,” claiming they exposed Israel’s susceptibility and frailty.

📝 Online Petition to Fire Him. Maya Platek, a former student-body president at Columbia, launched a Change.org petition to demand Massad’s removal from the faculty. The petition has gathered more than 49k signatures so far.

👎 Why It’s Outrageous. Massad’s article glorifies one of the worst acts of terrorism in history, which killed more than 1,400 Israelis and wounded thousands more.

👉 Not the First Time. Massad has a history of antagonizing Jewish and Israeli students in class. He was accused of harassment and intimidation in a 2004 film called “Columbia Unbecoming.” Post-screening, the movie sparked ex-Congressman Anthony Weiner’s demand for his dismissal.

🤷‍♂️ Columbia’s Response. The university has not commented on Massad’s article or the petition yet. It is unclear whether they will take any action against him or uphold his academic freedom.
