Was It All Staged?

Hi Global Recap readers,

It’s surprisingly easy to forget even the worst terrorist attacks in today’s world, where one horrific headline quickly replaces another.

Remember the Pahalgam attack in April? It's the terrorist attack that briefly started a military conflict between India and Pakistan.

  • Well, India now claims to have taken down those responsible, but not everyone’s buying it.

  • A number of accounts (many with Arabic usernames) are calling the whole thing staged, accusing India of faking evidence and photos.

True or not, some of the theories show brilliant creativity and investigative skills. 👇️

After months of getting grilled for slow action, India says it finally tracked down and killed three militants tied to the spring park massacre in Kashmir.

It’s been a tense 100 days since gunmen slaughtered 26 civilians (mostly tourists) in Pahalgam.

  • The attack in April triggered a military conflict between India and Pakistan, two nuclear states.

  • During the attack, victims were reportedly asked about their religion before shot and killed.

Aftermath of the Attack

Flag of Lashkar-e-Taiba

After promising “military action,” PM Modi pulled India out of its water-sharing deal with Pakistan and sent jets to bomb “terrorist camps,” but Pakistan shot some down.

  • Both sides fired off drones and missiles, but the whole thing fizzled out when Trump announced he’d stopped the fight by threatening their trade.

    • However, Modi denied this, saying that Indian aggression forced Pakistan's hands.

  • India has identified the attackers as members of Lashkar-e-Taiba, a group widely regarded as a state-sponsored terrorist organization created to target India and push for the integration of Kashmir with Pakistan.

    • Pakistan, however, denies any involvement.

The Manhunt and Shootout

Weapons allegedly recovered at the site.

The terrorists’ hideout.

So why did it take so long? Security forces spent months hunting the suspects through “high-altitude forest.”

  • On Monday, soldiers killed three men near Srinagar.

  • Home Minister Amit Shah says all three were Pakistani nationals and linked to the park attack.

  • Officials had to wait for body IDs before confirming the news.

  • Authorities had been monitoring a Chinese satellite phone since April 22, 2025. It was silent for 3 months, until July 26, when it was "briefly reactivated." It triggered a response from security forces, ultimately leading them to the suspects.

Political Heat and Fallout

Deputy Leader of the Indian National Congress in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi.

The government’s slow response became political ammo for the opposition.

  • Before Tuesday’s announcement of the terrorists’ elimination, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi criticized Modi’s team on Monday for not capturing the terrorists sooner.

  • Some details, like the number of attackers, are still murky.

  • The region is one of the world’s most militarized, raising questions about the security lapse.

Online Debate

There’s ongoing debate online over the authenticity of the Indian government’s reports.

  • Some users, apparently aligned with Pakistan, claim the images and statements are fabricated—accusing India of using three civilians to stage fake photos with new weapons, and even suggesting the Pahalgam attack was a false flag.

  • Meanwhile, those supporting India argue that these accusations are baseless and dismiss them as “coping.”
