Yellen Bows Down to China

Hello again, Global Recap readers! Have you seen this clip of US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen shaking hands with Chinese Vice Premiere He Lifeng on Saturday? Well, if it was just an ordinary handshake, people wouldn’t be talking so much about it.
What do you think? It is customary in Asian culture for a person of lower status to bow when greeting someone of higher status. This is why international diplomats typically do not bow, as they represent their respective countries. In my opinion, this issue is not just about politeness; it is about upholding a nation's pride and status.

Foxconn Scraps a $19.5B Chip Deal

🍎 Apple’s main supplier ditches India’s $19.5 billion chip deal.
🇮🇳 Modi’s dream has been shattered. His dream of transforming India into a global manufacturing hub for high-tech products just got a reality check, as Foxconn, the Taiwanese giant that makes most of Apple’s products, has backed out of a massive joint venture with an Indian company. The deal would have brought semiconductor and display manufacturing to India.
Foxconn didn’t give a reason for the breakup, but it may have something to do with India’s regulatory hurdles, infrastructure gaps, and labor issues. Foxconn is still building other factories in India, but none are as big or as advanced as the one it scrapped.
This is also a setback for Apple, as they have been emphasizing supply chain “de-risking” in order to diversify their supply chains away from Communist China.

Gerasimov Hasn’t Been Purged After All

🔥 General Gerasimov Resurfaces. After rumors of his purge following a failed mutiny in June, Russian Army Chief Valery Gerasimov has made his first public appearance.
It seems like the Kremlin wants you to know that everything is fine in its military ranks. Russia’s defense ministry has released a video of Gerasimov giving orders to his subordinates, in an apparent attempt to quash rumors of his dismissal or arrest. The video shows Gerasimov looking calm and confident like nothing happened.
The message is clear: Gerasimov is still in charge.

🚨 Pyongyang is clearly not happy. It claims a US Air Force plane violated its airspace several times and warns of a “shocking accident” if it happens again. South Korea denies any airspace violation and urges Pyongyang to stop spreading such false claims “that create tension.”
But that’s not all. The US also has its nuclear submarine and B-52 bombers stationed in South Korea for military drills, which the North calls a “nuclear blackmail” and a “grave threat” to peace and security. So who’s in the wrong here?
