💣 Live Grenade Found in Frankfurt

The suspect caught on CCTV
A masked man left a “functional” live hand grenade in the basement of a busy train station in Frankfurt, Germany. Police have secured the explosive and are looking for the suspect. No one was injured.

🩸 Blinken Confronts Bloodied Hands

US. Secretary of State Antony Blinken defended the US support for Israel and Ukraine in a Senate hearing, facing angry protesters who incessantly interrupted him with red-stained hands.
Blinken argued that the US must stand by its allies against Iran and other adversaries.

🪖 More US Troops in Middle East

Pentagon press secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder
You thought the US had enough troops in the Middle East? Think again.
Due to Iranian-backed militias launching 27 rocket and drone attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria, the Pentagon is sending 300 more troops to the region.
This seems to be getting out of hand a little…

🚫 Iran Wants Israel to Starve

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
Iran’s supreme leader urges Islamic countries to cut off food and oil supplies to Israel, praising Hamas for attacking the Jewish state.
However, OPEC, the Middle East’s oil overseer, dismissed any embargo plans.

AOC’s Antisemitism Statement: Too Little, Too Late?

From left to right, Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Ayanna Pressley.
🔥 Late Condemnation. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) finally spoke out against antisemitism, but many say it’s too late and not enough.
👩💼 AOC’s Statement: She posted the following post on X that seems to take a jab at the Israeli government:
Now more than ever, we must emphasize the importance of separating people from governments.
Antisemitism is disgusting and unacceptable. We have a responsibility to defend our Jewish brothers, sisters, and siblings from hatred. No movement of integrity should tolerate it. Ever.

Key points:
Antisemitism is “disgusting and unacceptable.”
It is important to separate the people from their government.
👎 Why People Are Not Impressed. Many people f are calling out AOC for her delayed and weak response, accusing her of:
being insincere and opportunistic,
trying to appease some of her constituents,
ignoring the plight of the Palestinians, and
being part of the problem.
🗣️ What They Said. Some of the negative comments on AOC’s post were:

The last post refers to AOC being one of the nine Democrats that opposed the resolution that affirms the US’ support for Israel and condemns Hamas’ October 7 massacre of Israeli citizens.
👍 But Not Everyone Hated It. On the other hand, some showed their support for AOC and her statement, saying things like:

🙅♀️ AOC Fights Back. AOC’s rep slammed the “too little, too late” claims, pointing to her history of condemning antisemitism. They also highlighted AOC’s calls for a cease-fire and hostage release.
🤷♂️ My Take. The saying “You can never satisfy everyone” seems particularly relevant here. The reception doesn’t appear to hinge on whether a person is pro-Israel - the majority seem to be. Instead, the key factor is whether people accept the timing of her message, which some view as late and opportunistic.
It certainly is better than nothing.

Yesterday's question: Did China erase Israel off of its map or is bad programming to blame?
🟢 🟢 🟢 🟢 🟢 56%: Chinese censorship.
🟠 🟠 🟠 ⚪️ ⚪️ 23%: Bad programming.
🟠 🟠 🟠 ⚪️ ⚪️ 21: Dunno…
A vibrant array of people chimed in - some with firsthand China experience, others with specialized knowledge, and a few geopolitics enthusiasts.
It is Chinese censorship

This comment captures the prevailing sentiment. While not as harsh, many struggle to trust the CCP, given its iron-fisted rule over its people. Of course, this sentiment is understandable. You know me.
It’s bad programming

This comment captured the essence of my closing thoughts on yesterday’s in-depth story. Many others in this camp also share this sentiment, acknowledging that they can’t trust China wholesale. However, certain technical quirks of virtual maps suggest that programming errors may be to blame.
Dunno…
This was the most diverse camp, where some see both the above factors at play, others argue the information is too vague for a definitive conclusion. I feel you, it’s frustrating…
Mainstream media oversimplifies the issue to, “China erased Israel from its map! That’s it, we are done!” That’s why I value polls. They reveal a spectrum of perspectives that can either align or diverge dramatically.
Although, sometimes there are some wild personalities out there among you. You know who you are. 🙂
